For
a while, I used a couple of caddy compressors for an on board air setup.
It worked fine for emergencies, but for general air ups it was
just too slow. I read some pretty good information on building a CO2 setup on
colorado4x4.org and decided to build my own.
The best way to do it is to find a local beer brewing distributor.
They sell the CO2 tanks and regualators and run about $140.
If you compare that to Power Tank or any of the other brands,
it's a great price.
I've personally been running this setup for a couple of years now and
I'm really happy with it. I can air up a 35" tire from 12 psi to 30 psi
in about 1 minute and 10 seconds. That's not bad.
If you have any questions about this, feel free to email me at brian@projectxj.com

Not
too long after I bought the tank, I found a fire extinguisher supply
store that sold the mounting bracket I wanted for the back of my rig. The bracket
is
very similar to the one that powertank sells and it's about half the price.
I first drilled two holes to secure the bottom portion of the bracket to
the upper holes of the spare tire holder. I then made a small angled piece to
secure the
top portion of the bracket to the small white part of the spare tire mount that
sticks out
of the interior plastic pieces. If you have any questions, or if you can't understand
what
the heck I'm talking about, email me and I'll fill you in.
